If it´s culture you are looking for, then Las Palmas has plenty to offer. Classical music lovers can head to the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, which hosts the annual Canary Islands Music Festival, whilst those who enjoy the opera should make their way to the Teatro Pérez Galdós. The city also hosts many other cultural festivals such as WOMAD, the Festival of Theatre and Dance and what is considered the best Carnival outside of Brasil. Las Palmas also boasts a number of sites of historical interest. The Columbus Museum and the Museo Canario in the Vegueta are both popular destinations. The Cueva Pintada in the village of Galdar gives a fascinating look into the way of life of the aboriginal people (Guanches) who originally inhabited this Island.
