The region of Catalonia is a restless business and tourist area with endless ways to spend your free time. Its principal feature is the marked contrast between the sea and the mountains. The Costa Brava has some of the best beaches in the country, and the Pyrenees offer excellent possibilities for summer and winter sports. In addition, there are plenty of good restaurants to try, which is in keeping with northern Spain’s rich gastronomic tradition – the number one Chef in the world is from here. In summer, the El Grec International Culture Festival hosts artists from all over the world.

At the school itself, there are guides and brochures permanently available which talk about what’s going on inside and outside of the city. Additionally, all of our Spanish teachers are always ready to provide you with information or give you suggestions about what to do after class: there are beaches in summer and bars, restaurants and discos in the evening and at night. You can go shopping and find almost everything the world currently has to offer. There are famous sightseeing tours all year round. The traditional Sardana dancing in major squares on Saturdays is definitely worth seeing....

The region’s 2000 plus years of history are the basis for a broad cultural offer: The Liceu is one of the most famous opera houses in the world. Every year, the El Grec summer festival invites international dancers, musicians and performers to show what’s new in the art world during the eight weeks that the festival lasts. The film festival held in the village of Sitges in autumn attracts short-film lovers. The “who-is-who” in modern music can be heard and seen in an array of open-air concerts. Medieval villages like Besalú and Pals show visitors what life was like 1000 years ago. And last, but not least – a visit to a football game of the famous FC Barcelona is a must.
Nobody leaves Barcelona without being impacted by the architecture of Gaudí: famous buildings or monuments, such as La Pedrera, Casa Batlló, El Dragó, Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia which is still under construction, have influenced the styles of many artists and architects for over 100 years. The Picasso, Miró and Dalí museums are a must. A concert at the Palau de la Música is an unforgettable experience. Contemporary art exhibitions can be visited all year round at public and private galleries.
