The picturesque Old Town with its historic buildings and relaxed ambience is the perfect place to practise your German. You will find an abundance of charming shops, cosy cafes and interesting sights in which you can try out your newly acquired language skills or simply relax with new international friends. The city has a great deal to offer by way of cultural events and entertainment. There are also plenty of restaurants offering local specialities and international cuisine, not to mention countless bars and nightclubs guaranteeing a vibrant nightlife. And with the Alps right on your doorstep, there’s no end to the sporting adventures or outdoor pursuits awaiting you.

Innsbruck is located right in the heart of Europe and has good bus and rail connections. Our students therefore enjoy trips across the borders to Italy, Germany and Switzerland as well as to other Austrian towns such as Salzburg and Vienna. Other day trips include the Stubai Glacier, Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Bergisel Ski Jump and the Alpine Zoo or take a tram ride to a pretty Alpine village.

Innsbruck is a renowned winter sports centre having twice hosted the Winter Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976. Mountains and alpine lakes are within easy reach making Innsbruck the ideal playground for a variety of sports and outdoor activities. In winter, for example, students enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing, ice skating and every imaginable winter sport. Whereas in summer there is hiking, climbing, glacier skiing, swimming, mountain biking, cycling, golf…the list goes on. Thanks to its steep slopes and rugged terrain, Innsbruck is also famous for extreme sports such as rafting, canyoning, bungee jumping, bobsleighing, paragliding, mountaineering…
